Glimmerglass optical switching systems provide flexible optical signal distribution capabilities for the lawful interception (LI) of communications. The Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Switches enable law enforcement agencies (LEA’s), intelligence agencies, and service providers to rapidly and remotely select any given optical signal and distribute it to any desired number of recipients. By using pure optics with no electrical conversions, Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Switches deliver optimal performance — independent of signal type.

Glimmerglass systems provide valuable flexibility to a broad range of optical networks. This is especially important in LI, where procedures and integration can vary greatly depending on region. Whether it is the service provider who is required to deploy and operate the equipment needed to deliver signals to the LEA, or it is the LEA who has deployed the equipment at the service provider while maintaining centralized control, Glimmerglass switches are the optimal choice for executing Network Intercepts and distributing the resulting information to investigative analysts.
Because of its ability to direct light paths without the need for conversion, the Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Switch will remain a functional part of the LI network even as the carrier networks evolve. The lack of conversions means that the Glimmerglass switch is ‘transparent’ to a signal’s data rate and format, accepting and distributing any type of optical signal it receives without the need for upgrade.
With Photonic Multicasting, one input can be optically split into multiple perfect copies and each copy can be connected to a separate output. The Photonic Multicasting units are offered as either a switched or a dedicated resource. As a switched resource, any input can be selected as the Multicast input, and the Multicast outputs can be directed to any switch outputs. All reconfigurations can be performed in milliseconds and remotely.
