

Retired Navy Captain responsible for Glimmerglass Intelligence and Defense

Hayward– January 26, 2010 – Glimmerglass, the leading supplier of intelligent optical layer management solutions, today announced the appointment of Keith May as Director of Business Development. Mr. May will draw upon his deep military and intelligence background as Glimmerglass continues to work closely with intelligence and defense agencies, and telecommunications service providers to strengthen mission critical networks.
Mr. May joins Glimmerglass following an outstanding three decades of service as a Naval officer and manager of major military intelligence and aviation operations. Most recently, he served as Military Assistant to the Deputy Director of Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Programs at the Pentagon’s Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. Additionally, he reported to the Director of ISR Programs for oversight of Defense Intelligence program acquisition management and budget, where Mr. May’s department oversaw more than $21 billion of Department of Defense intelligence programs.

As part of his distinguished and decorated military career, Mr. May commanded Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Two, the Navy’s largest tactical aviation squadron of more than 500 personnel based in Rota, Spain from June 2001 to June 2003. Responsible for conducting airborne electronic reconnaissance flights in the European and Middle East theaters, his squadron was among the first to respond after the 9/11 attacks and was deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
Mr. May began his Navy career by enlisting at the age of 17 with a waiver from his parents and served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. He later entered Navy Flight training and became a Navy Aviator, rising to rank of Captain. As a Naval officer, he earned a B.A. and a Masters in Computer Information Systems at Southern Illinois University and St. Mary’s University (San Antonio, Texas) respectively. Mr. May is in the final stages of completing his Doctorate in Management, Information Systems and Technology.
