The Glimmerglass Intelligent Peripheral System 3000 (IPS 3000) is a high reliability modular platform supporting the industry’s highest density optical device modules.  Combined with Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Switches the IPS 3000 provides a superior solution to managing and controlling the physical layer of fiber optic networks.

Applications


Optical Amplification

For applications requiring amplification of large numbers of optical fibers, the IPS supports 12 dual optical amplifier modules for a total of 24 amplifiers in 6RU of rack space.

Fiber Monitoring

With High Density Splitter Modules, supporting up to 144 managed 1:2 splitters in 6RU of rack space, the IPS is the ideal solution to monitoring the physical layer of optical networks. The addition of a Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Switch makes non-intrusive monitoring and testing of optical fibers Point & Click simple.

Optical Signal Distribution

IPS Lossless Splitter Modules incorporating splitters ranging from 1:2 to 1:16 are the building blocks of high reliability optical signal distribution networks. When combined with Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Switches, highly flexible optical signal distribution networks are built which enable rapid and remote selection of optical splits and signal destinations.

Lawful Intercept

Optical splitters offer many advantages for Lawful Intercept applications, including low cost, zero latency and faithful multicast. The high density of IPS splitter modules combined with the transparent switching of Glimmerglass Intelligent Optical Switches results in a superior solution to the management of optical splitters.

Fiber Complexity Reduction

In large fiber optic installations, fiber complexity is a major problem. The high density IPS Peripheral Modules maximize the use of ribbon fiber, resulting in dramatic fiber count reductions.
